July 14, 2008

Attendees: Dick Roberts N0UC (President), Steve Howard AB0XE (Vice-President), Pete Sigtermans N0FKC, Skip Jackson KS0J, Jim Boyd KC0QCO, Don Nelson KF0UU,

The meeting was called to order by the President, Dick Roberts N0UC.

Secretary’s Report (John Thomas W3FAF)

John W3FAF was out of town on a vacation.

Treasurer’s Report (Dennis Ackerman KB0OQQ via e-mail to N0UC):

The closing balance was $2586.46 (Approved).

Opening Remarks (Dick Roberts N0UC)

Club Apparel  (Jim Boyd KC0QCO)

Advance Sportswear apparel was updated.  Instead of sewing the SEMARC logo on the item, we could use patches.  Skip will check on the cost of patches.  Jim showed examples to the board.

Programs (Skip Jackson KS0J):

Dave Glas W0OXB decided not to present a talk on the Red Cross to our club (July).  Pete suggested that we have a show and tell of Boat Anchors!!

ARES Steve Howard AB0XE)

A demonstration was presented to the Red Cross at Bayport.  They suggested afterwards that we should have been invited to Hugo to help with communications.  Dick N0C discussed situation that apparently exists with the Red Cross, that is, they do not have a communications plan in place.  Amateur Radio (ARES) should be used as a back-up system for 1st line communications.

Field Day (Dick N0UC)

Dick was out of town and did not have time to get our $150.00 park use deposit yet.  This will be taken care of shortly.

Scholarship (Jim Boyd KC0QCO)

Jim wants to make sure that we are in a good position starting this fall.  A brochure should be made up that lists general information (criteria, how to become a ham, etc.).  Parameters should be kept lose.  The geographical area has been expanded.  This may be another opportunity for funding.

Relocation Drill (Dick N0UC)

Nothing to report at this time.

2M Net

NCS stations should arrange for alternates if they know they are going to be unavailable as NCS.

Strays

We are still missing some photographs to finish our picture array.  To date, we have not been contacted regarding National Night Out 2008.  Cottage Grove always has a good turnout.  This will be discussed at the next meeting.

Dick discussed cleaning his garage at which time the meeting was abruptly adjourned.  Respectfully submitted,

John H. Thomas, III W3FAF
