Secretary’s Report (John Thomas W3FAF)
The
minutes were passed out and approved as written.
Treasurer’s Report (Dennis Ackerman
KB0OQQ):
The
June 2008 ending balance was $2564.82 (Approved).
Opening Remarks (Dick Roberts N0UC)
We
received a Certificate of Appreciation for the radio kits supplied to the
Metro-Hospital Compact.
IRS Status
Our
club did not show up on the IRS web site as a 501c3 organization. We did file a 990 short form (less then
$25,000/yr). In addition our club name
is incorrectly listed as SEMAC! We have
to file a name change form. Dick must
have all the club records regarding this at his home. Filings must be done for 3 years simultaneously
to maintain 501c3 status. We will file
late this year.
ARES Steve Howard AB0XE)
Steve
gave Dick N0UC a letter from Kirk Lee St. Paul Park Fire Dept thanking us for
our participation recently in the burning drill.
As
a wrap-up, there were 750 riders on the ADA
Tour d’Cure this year netting $266K.
There are many volunteer events. However,
costs are curtailing travel in general.
Volunteering is changing. The
economy is “depressing.”
Relocation Drill (Dennis Ackerman KB0OQQ)
This
will take place tomorrow at 5:30pm promptly.
Every station is presently covered.
Danny has the sign and vests and Dick has his COMM VAN ready. We will also be testing with Department of
Health on V/UHF. The next time we will
be called out via a call-out tree (this must be formulated).
Field Day 2008 (Dick Roberts N0UC)
Jerry
deHaven has volunteered to act as chairman for FD. Skip volunteered to make dinner for the club
(spaghetti dinner). Steve’s wife Vicki
will help but he has to do the shopping for food. The check list for FD was handed out. Jim KC0QCO will provide public
information. A guest Book is
available. We discussed some of the fine
points of officials visiting our site. There is a lot of work that needs
doing. This will be discussed at the
June 18th Meeting.
Club Brochure (Skip KS0J):
Skip
KS0J put together a new member and publicity flier (tri-fold B&W 18
cents/copy). The two were
coordinated. He offered this for board
approval (approved). Denny volunteered
to make 30 color copies of the tri-fold.
The membership form must be put before the general membership for
approval.
Skip
announced that K0DXC was appointed Assistant SM for youth (MN). Getting kids interested in ham radio is very
important.
Apparel (Jim Boyd KC0QCO)
The
prices for various apparel were updated.
He will put in orders. However,
they are having trouble with the background color of the jackets.
The
meeting was adjourned at 9:15 pm.
Respectfully
submitted,

John
H. Thomas, III W3FAF
