David E. Harrell Scholarship

Our club has established a $500.00 scholarship in support of an area high school senior interested in amateur radio and pursuing a career path in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.  The scholarship is in memory of club founder David E. Harrell who was instrumental in establishing the club as a non-profit organization in 1987.  He also served as the club’s first president. 

 

The scholarship opportunity is being offered to seniors at Park (Cottage Grove), Woodbury, Hastings, Simley (Inver Grove Heights), So. St. Paul High Schools, Math & Science Academy and New Life Academy. 

 

Basic Requirements:

 

A.   Senior must be a licensed amateur radio operator (Technician, General or Extra)

B.    Senior must be entering a course of study in science, technology, engineering or mathematics

C.   Senior must have 2.8 GPA or higher

 

 

Our club provides mentoring and testing for any student wishing to become licensed as an amateur radio operator.  Contact Club President Steve Howard at the club line 651-769-0358 for license class information. 

 

Scholarship application forms are available from school counselors.  Completed application forms must be turned in to counselor’s by May 3rd , 2010 in order to be considered.
